Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Screening

This procedure detects the build-up of plaque in arteries in the lower legs. Plaque is a substance resulting from the build-up of cholesterol and scar tissue, which narrows the blood vessel and restricts the flow of blood. The process is often referred to as atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, and is detectable in the large and medium-sized blood vessels.

The screening is performed using blood-pressure cuffs on the arms and lower legs, and applying the Ankle Brachial Index ratio between the pressure levels in the arms and lower legs to determine whether, or how much, narrowing of the vessel has occurred.

The screening information is reviewed by a board-certified physician, and results will be sent to you within 21 days.
